7 Reasons Why You Should Ask For Help More Often

Seeking Help is Not Weakness

Seeking help is often taken as a sign of weakness. This perspective denies us the opportunity to gain insights, resources and support. People need other people to excel and be successful in life. Seeking help in life is essential for success.

You need help from colleagues, friends, superiors, and your community. Seeking help is not being dependent or weak. It is strength and wisdom in realizing you can't do everything on your own.

No Man is an Island

Human beings need each other to survive. We refrain from seeking help because it makes us look weak and needy. It could be your pride stopping you from seeking help. It can be embarrassing to ask for help.

Human Nature

Helping others is a fundamental part of human nature. We've evolved to be interdependent. When you see someone struggling, you may feel compelled to help. This instinct, known as prosocial behaviour, helped our ancestors survive and prosper.

The benefits of helping others extend beyond individual happiness, as there are numerous befits to helping and seeking help. Of course, we now live in an individualistic and capitalist society, but this hasn't eliminated the sense of community.

Excel in the Workplace

At the workplace, you need help with tasks, operations, ideas, and cooperation. Seeking support from your boss or colleagues improves your productivity. It also reduces burnout and enhances team spirit.

Seeking help helps you complete your work responsibilities. It also helps in relieving work overload and building camaraderie among employees. Collaboration at work allows team members to share their gifts and talents. You empower others to shine, and you learn more about others' strengths and passions.

Find Help at Home

It's no shame to ask for help when you need it. Sometimes, the easiest solution is to ask family, housemates, and friends for help. It's understandable if you feel embarrassed or ashamed to ask for help. But don't let those feelings stop you from seeking help.

Help is not limited to finances. You can ask for advice, help with the chores, and companionship during traumatic times. Without stating your needs, your family and friends may never tell. This may cause resentment to develop, thus fracturing your relationships.

Grow of Your Business Faster

Businesses need networks and collaborations to survive, grow and flourish. Build networks with other businesses, customers, and vendors. These will help you get referrals, customers, credit terms, and free marketing.

Most entrepreneurs are lone wolves. Savvy entrepreneurs recognize that they can't build a successful business all by themselves. They seek help in the form of advice, resources, and tips from others.

Your customers' network is much more extensive than yours. Your customer's network contains people you've never even met. Your customer network includes people who can help you grow your business. Offer friendly and reliable services. Make your customers your biggest champions and marketers.

Creating connections and networking are the keys to success. Network with people, not just with businesses. Building a quality network takes time, but it's well worth it.

You Need Others to Build a Brand

Building a brand takes a lot of work.  It's a lot of work, and you can't do it alone. When you are making a brand, you need free marketing, advice, and resources. Identify the right people to seek ideas, resources, and help. You need to surround yourself with the right people.

You need people who share your vision. You need people who will critique you. You need people who will listen to and accept your ideas. You need people who are willing to give you advice. Mingle with people in your industry. Use social media. Network with potential customers.

You Need Help to Grow and Flourish

Asking for help allows us to surround ourselves with people who motivate and aid our growth. They create optimism and help sharpen our resilience.

Seeking help enables you to connect with others and increases your productivity. It also helps you develop a mature outlook and build the courage to accept rejection.

Lost In the Sea of Life

Life can really screw you. Or it might turn out like a Disney story.  I met Kev along the streets of Nairobi a few weeks back. He still had his wide grin and bubbly personality that could keep a whole village warm during a winter night. Kev is a kind-hearted human being, generous and an agreeable fellow to a fault. He also had such great footballing skills, I always envisaged him playing for the great Manchester United. He actually had a stint playing for a local Premier league, albeit on a trial basis. As he had no money to bribe some connected individuals, his spot was taken by a lesser talent who sadly had more well-oiled hands than him. So up in flames, went his footballing dream. While he still looked for his 40 years, his eyes looked hollow and haunted. He had the look of a war veteran, like a person who had seen too much suffering, death and had had his soul wrung dry. I was excited to reconnect with by childhood friend and I had some time to idle away, I suggested we find a nic

How Processing Your Traumas Can Help Improve Your Life

We have lots of marriage counselors and relationship gurus, yet we seem to be having more screwed-up relationships than ever. Why is that? Of course, the digital age hasn't made things any better. Technology has allowed sharing shitty tales of how men or women are bad. Sadly, most of us are driven by our fears, thus pushing people away or disqualifying ourselves from great opportunities. Understanding and processing your traumas can help you navigate life better, have more meaningful relationships, and realize your true potential. What are Unresolved Traumas?
